Before the marriage takes place, there are a few steps you need to take:

• Find a registered Marriage Celebrant.

• Fill in the Notice of Intended Marriage form (NOIM).

• Lodge NOIM form with Marriage celebrant of your choice not less than one month prior to the wedding day.

• Have two Witnesses,18 years old or older, present on the wedding day

Documents to support NOIM form:

• Original Birth Certificate or Australian passport, or Overseas passport (if born outside Australia)

• ID document – driver’s license, or passport, or an Australian citizenship certificate

• Original Divorce or Death certificates, if you have been married before.

My responsibility:

• Handle all legal paperwork for marriage registration and lodge legal forms with BDM Registry after the wedding

• Solemnise your marriage according to the Australian law

• Explain procedure for obtaining an Official Marriage certificate from BDM Registry

• On request, provide Letters to Immigration Department as a part of an Application for a Fiancée/Partner Visa.
